I'm working on getting the boat ready for summer and my steering cable has rusted and will not move. I've tried soaking, beating and otherwise encouraging it to move and with no luck. I called a couple of online folks offering an "almost" replacement 11111A13 but both that have them advertised have none. Anyone out there know of any other possible sources?

It's a 13' cable with the following ends:

Note the non-stock cutting on the tube... Arghhh salt!

I don't have any that short, but have some longer ones.
Is it possible in your boat to re-route the cable to the opposite side and back under that gunwale?
If so,...You can turn the helm's rack upside-down and use a longer cable.
If that is possible, post what length of cable would work that way.
Measure from the nut securing the cable to the end of the helm back to the female nut on the transom bracket.

Interesting... I'll mock it up and do some measuring... thanks!

I made a couple changes on how to measure the length of your cable, so please review my last post again.

Ah... yes. I was wondering if I flipped it if I'd have to learn to drive upside down. :)

I "liberated" the cable and welded my failure so I have a functional cable. Now I just need to source the steering tube or have one made?

I may have the correct steering tube.
I just need to know the I.D., O.D., Overall length, and length of threads required for the transom bracket.

I was able to find a 13'6" Super Ride Guide cable and it looks like it'll fit. They made these up until 1990 so there are still some out there. I 'll let you know how it goes today and post some pics. Thanks! --S.

This cable has a little longer throw than the regular ride guide but there was plenty of room to flip the support fitting moving the sleeve nut inside the boat and I get full left right travel of the motor. Everything was identical at the steering wheel end so there was no drama there. The super Ride Guide has an aluminum sleeve which should resist corrosion better.

Steering Cable installed...
