I made a bulk purchase of 16 magazine issues: MotorBoating, Popular Boating, and Boating Magazine, all from the '50s. Halfway through scanning the Jan. 1958 issue of Boating magazine, which happens to be the boat show issue for that year. Unlike other magazines, this particular periodical listed manufacturers and the boat models they offered. Should be yet another good resource for research and reference. And of course, to be posted here at FiberGlassics.

Cheers,

Andy

You are very ambitious. I have boxes of old boating magazines. I would never consider for a million years to scan them. Good for you.

"Boating Industry Magazine" is one of the best resources I have ever found on old boat stuff. Those magazines are highly sought by me.

Finished the January 1958 issue of Boating magazine. Easy to scan once you remove the staples and disassemble the folds:

228 pages, that's still a lot of scanning!

Is there a way to download multiple images, or the entire collection, at once? It would take an awful long time to download 228 files one-at-a-time!!

Thanks for your effort, it's a fantastic slice of history! All those old boat ads are really cool........ed

I have the magazine saved in three parts as a PDF (limited by my scanning software), but am not making it publicly available to avoid anyone profiting off the work I have done.

By posting lower resolution JPEGs, someone has to download each one separately. If someone would like a single or a few specific higher-resolution images, please send me a PM and I will forward them on.

I find the main value in these images is reference and entertainment- if you want an original paper copy for framing or for hard-copy files, there are many sellers on E-Bay of these exact same ads.
