hi, i need to replace the float in a 1958 3hp, does anyone know the sierra part number?

The new float will be a plastic ethanol-resistant material instead of the original cork.

I'd also recommend replacing the float bowl gasket (part #21 in the diagram), and the main jet sealing washer (part #26 in the diagram), unless they are still in good condition.

If the main jet washer is the old cork design, definitely replace since the cork does deteriorate, and the new material is far superior.

The idle passage hole in the float bowl gasket tends to swell and then close off, if your bowl gasket isn't pliable and has any obvious issues, it Most Definitely should be renewed.

thanks for the replies. i did already order the carb kit because of idling issues and Ed you are right the main jet cork washer is in rough shape and the float bowl gasket is swelled. I will keep you posted on my progress.
