I was looking on youtube for videos of how to remove the lower unit of my 66 100hp golden meteor Johnson and could find no help. After beating on things that didn't need to be beat on and removing things that didn't need to be removed I figured it out. To save others future headaches I want to do a quick how to video. Is there a resource I missed or is this a good idea? Would put it on youtube and have a link from here. What should it be called?

Thanks
Eric

I do not have your motor but I think a video is a great idea for those of us with little knowledge. I say go for it, I would enjoy watching it and would think so would many others.

Go for it. I have the '67 100hp golden and the lower was a pretty straight forward removal for those who have done it a zillion times before. Any instruction(s) or how-to's are always welcome.
I thought of making a video of my replacing the timing belt on that motor but the thought came about half way while putting it back together

That I think is my point. 8 bolts is easy once you know which ones. The place where is splits is not obvious until you have done it. I was looking for the sneaky hidden one like on my Mercury. It was too obvious (NOW).

It is fairly easy but for the first time it can be a challenge.
Remember years ago a couple of fellows came into the shop with the lower unit in hand.
We said " why is the wire like that "
They said they could not figure the wire out and they just cut it to remove the lower unit.

Speaking of videos, does anyone know of one about rebuilding the single handle OMC remote shifter throttle assembly. I received one (remote) for my 1976 70 hp but the remote was in pieces in a bag.
Sottu didn't mean to steal your thread.

Didn't put the key in right for the impeller so had to pull apart again. I shot some video. Now just have to get it posted.

edit You'll have to plug in the year, HP, and select control box. It doesn't hold this info when you paste it, sorry.
