This is a continuation I could not reply on the original. due to the sidebar. I found the issue was I was using early oring and guide bars(cable ends) they changed them in 1973 mine were from th 60's. I ordered a trunion lock and the new cable ends. In the meantime I checked the comprssion. It was not good at first. 40. 90 and 90. This was with a slow crank. I then shot some premix in and got 110 on all cyl.
I got her to start on the muffs and she ran great. I then rechecked the compression warm w a fast crank 130,135 and 135 comp.I am watching the no.1 or top cyl.

That is good to hear.
My 73' 65HP initially gave me 100, 100, 80.
Once running they are all 95 +/- 3 psi.
I am on season 5 now.

The real answer to this. I did need the new casing guide and oring and to get allen set screws to replace the slotted screws that came with the old casings. Then I had to read the manual for about the 30th time (hey I am dense). The shift arm needs to come forward which I had done and it clicked into place so I thought it was all the way forward, (The shift arm also swung all the way back). The manual also states "it may be necessary to turn the prop shaft in-order -to shift into forward" this I had not done. When I did that the shift arm suddenly was able to come forward another inch and the casing slid right on.:)
Now I feel dense but I am posting this incase someone else has this same issue.
