TOPIC: power head swap question?????

ok we have had this old fat 50 johnson in basement for years, was given to me in high school...well the powerhead was pulled off in the 80's and needed to be rebuilt. what other power heads would bolt to this motor....size's and how new??? i know where there are a few old v4's sitting that i can get for next to nothing..75hp,, 80hp and last one is i think a 100hp..

The 75 /80 /85 / 90 and 100 HP will bolt on----These motors are all pre 1969 models.

Get too large of a power head and the LU will not stand up

I think you will find that the gears and bearings in that monstrous 50 HP lower unit are as big or bigger than some newer 125 HP motors.

whats really odd to me is this thing almost looks to have been set up for a tiller arm.. and when i did some searching..turns out it was available as a tiller...has anyone ever seen a fat 50 with a tiller steer???????? i did find pictures of one online so they must have existed...
