TOPIC: Another question 59 35 hp Golden Jubilee

Another question 59 35 hp Golden Jubilee 11 years 9 months ago #74787

I'm going to put new seals in the lower end. Does anyone know what all I need. Everything looks good down there. Does not seem to be a seal on the shift rod. There was a little water and milky looking.

There is a wee bushing and it is used to hold an o-ring in place and it is the seal for the shiftrod.
Now it can be replaced without removing the bushing. Other way is to remove the bushing and replace the o-ring.
That shift rod seal is often overlooked.

For a few $ you can buy a tool that make it easy from Frank Robb
mysite.verizon.net/respdyk0/

I would also buy the timing tool from him...well worth the money.

If you do not already have the parts, go to you local NAPA auto parts and order Sierra part # 18-2686. It has all of the seals and o rings for the Lower unit for around $20

Hi,
To throw our hat into the ring, my family's marine business stocks and sells the mentioned kit @ $18.09 (and I think you will find our shipping charges very reasonable). Here is a link to the page of our website: www.fergusonpoolemarine.com/driveunitspropellers.html (the last item on the bottom of this page)
Here is the index page for the parts and accessories we presently have listed, if one would wish to view all our listed items: www.fergusonpoolemarine.com/partsaccessories.html
Thank you for looking.

Regards,
Joe

Napa here wanted almost $25 and I had to pay UPS to get it to there. WOW I will have to look at that.

I do not understand the UPS charges...The stores around here just have it shipped with the other parts that they are getting in day to day

I will say one thing about Sierra parts...I had a seal (one out of over 20 that I have bought) failed nearly 4 years after I bought it. Took it back to the NAPA and they replaced it at no cost
