TOPIC: Thermostat replacement

Thermostat replacement 12 years 2 months ago #70901

I have spend hours trying to find the OMC part number for a thermostat that fits a '63 Johnson 40 HP. Kind of small, pin on the moving part of valve cradles into a small bar on top of unit. Hope to get one before this weekend. If not, I assume the motor could run without one. Just runs a bit cold, as the temp will only be mid 40's. Water temp around 60

No, none of the ones I found in the usual sites are the same. Very small, small spring. with a post from the valve in a v piece across the top. Trying to describe. Will try to take a pic, and make measurements
