Boozer, Google youtube evinrude water pump replacement and there are several clips showing how to do it. Seems like most shafts turn clockwise so if you put the new impeller on the shaft soak it with mazola/canola oil or Crisco grease and twist it into position clockwise. The cooking oil will not damage the rubber impeller and will lube it enough so it will not be damaged when you turn the shaft during installation.

Rotate the shaft clockwise (looking down at it) while pushing the pump housing down onto the impeller.

If you have a problem remembering what way it truns just pull the rope start and see what way the motor truns simple.

And in the end, it really doesn't matter - the impeller will self right as soon as you fire up the motor for the first time... And, DO NOT use that impeller! Get a new one in there as that one is shot - it has taken a "set" and will not pump efficiently... The blades should be straight out, not curved.
