TOPIC: Key needed for Johnson

I know it's not that old but can anyone point me in the right direction to get a replacement key for a 1986 Johnson (I think it's 66 hp although it says Johnson 60 VRO.

J66ILCDS

66 hp, FICHT Fuel Injection, 20in, 1986

I opened the controls and didn't see any numbers on the key mechanism. The control case had 85 and it looked like a stamp on the number 7 in a circle. So, the controls look like they were made in 85.

It would be a 1986 60hp - no such animal as a 66. Perhaps the tag has gotten scratched?

Anyway, the key should be available at your local Johnrude dealer. There's a number on the key switch, right near the hole for the key. Take that number with you to the dealer and they'll match it up for you...

There was no such thing as a FICHT in 1986 or in the 60 HP class either.

Thanks for helping get this straight! Yes the tag was hard to read and now I think it's:

J60TLCDS, not J66ILCDS

So, that's a 60 hp and the T stands for Tilt/Trim - Electric Start

I did also find the number on the edge of the key cylinder.
