TOPIC: 1963 Gale 25hp - Will this tiller handle work?

I found this tiller listed somewhere and it's for a 6HP I believe, the model is 6RL78B and I'm wanting to know whether or not all of the components he's including will work with my 25 horse '63 Gale. It seems everything would fit but I want another opinion before I drop my wallet. Also, how was this motor supposed to shift when the tiller was attached when it was ALL brand new? Did one move the shifter manually and the shift lock is supposed to keep it in place? I'm missing a few of those components to know for sure. Thanks again heres a picture of the setup.

It definately will not work. I have to go to work soon, but I have the 1963 Gale Master Parts Diagrams if you want a copy. Later I can cross reference the parts you need from my Johnson and Evinrudes manuals. I might even have what your looking for off a parts motor or get you looking for the right parts motor.

What you need is a tiller (complete with the shaft that is attached to the motor so they mesh) from a 1957 or up to about 1970 28 to 40hp OMC outboard.

I have the chance to buy either a handle from 1955 or one from 1956. I'm relatively certain they'll fit my application. The only problem is they don't have the shaft that connects from the handle to the actual throttle gear. What parts do I need exactly, and where can they be located? thanks!

Let me check with my buddy I gave him a 1956 18hp for a parts motor and that handle should work on you motor. Don't think he will charge you and arm and leg for it.
