"Always consider that it has run and will run again if conditions are same."

This wisdom comes from a 1904 Oldsmobile owner's manual. I was put in mind of it today while resurrecting a 1960 75HP Super Seahorse. In going through a check of the basics I found incorrect engine timing, distributor timing, points gap, plug gap, plug wire order, throttle linkage and carb settings... pretty much anything that could be monkeyed with was way off. After making "conditions the same" she fired right off after something like two decades of sitting (last hull registration shows 1993).

A lot of times,it's not the engine's fault but the go-rilla that has messed with it in the past. :)
