I pulled the head off my 58 Evinrude 18 (had the tell tale sign by skipping at idle until it cooled off a little)and found some of the firing deck on the block eaten away a little bit. Has anyone had any luck by cheating and building it up with anything? Or am I going to have to pull the powerhead and have it milled? Also, can anyone tell me the torque and sequence on the head? Any info will be appreciated.

Some pix would help to see what you are talking about. As far as tighting sequence. start with to 2 middle one and go to the 2 on each end and then the 2 next to each end. Here are the toquart spec's now look good because some are inch pounds and some are foot pounds.
