TOPIC: Anybody have an old Johnson for sale?

Hi Guys,

I need to get a Johnson shortshaft for my SeaMac while DH is restoring the 30HP that came with the boat. Looking for no smaller that 18HP but think I would like a 25-30hp. Would like to keep the motor in the same age range of the-boat she's a 1958. It doesn't have to be hugely pretty- I can fix that. But I need really reliable with electric starter. I'm a novice.....

How far afield will you accept? A local dealer in MT has a number of old motors for sale.

Montana is a long way, but we're not finding anything close. Do you think he would ship? (Or that may be as expensive as the motor!)

If you want a 1958 Johnson larger than 18 HP with electric start, try looking for a RDE-19 Sea Horse or the RDS-20 Super Seahorse, both rated at 35 HP. The Super Seahorse has a fuel pump and can use regular fuel tanks, the Sea Horse needs a pressure tank.

I do have a Javelin I would make you a heck of a deal on. With a parts motor.
But from Id. to Ga. would be terrible for shipping cost.

It looks like I'm getting close to what I need. Found a Johnson and Evinrude in Lubbock, TX!

Funny thing, I was driving down the road yesterday and someone had a vintage AristoCraft with what looked like an 18HP 50's Johnson. Darn them! They had to be going 80mph.. I couldn't catch them.
(so close, and yet so far!)

I've got a couple of 35 HP, And a mid-sixties 28 HP Speeditwiin, Might all be too big for what you're looking for? I'm much closer- Just up in Chattanooga.

Ah man! We sent him the check for the Johnson.

I might be interested in those 35HP Johnsons. What kind of shape are they in?

Just down in Atlanta so I could drive up and get them...
