I have a 71 Johnson 60 that's trash and I want to swap it with my 72 Evinrude 100. The 60 has a new impeller and I was wondering if it will fit in the 100. Also will the controls/electrical harness from the 60 work on the 100?

Paul, you can go to www.shopevinrude.com or www.marineengine.com and look up both motors to compare part numbers on the different parts. Right off hand I would say that not too much is going to be interchangeable between the two motors, they're different designs from different "eras" - but the parts breakdowns mentioned above will tell the story for sure.

Paul, ditto what Mark said. Are they both standard shift of elec shift? A non electric control will probably work for the swap, if it's 'letric shifter ???. The color of the wire harness plug at the engine is a pretty good clue, red or yellow or black. Cant mix them.

They're both electric shift. I'll check the harness connectors. Thanks for the help guys.
