TOPIC: Evinrude timer base question

Evinrude timer base question 10 years 2 months ago #114076

While working on my 1976 55hp Rude I broke the cast aluminum arm on the timer base. Just purchased a replacement that installed easily. However, the opening for the ball socket is smaller and the old lever will not fit. The kits do not come with the new plastic piece that fits in the hole. Does anyone have a solution for this? The picture shows the new base installed and the old piece broken off.
