TOPIC: starting troubles

I have a 1984 evinrude 3cyl 60hp that I have had sitting around .My problem is when I start it , it runs great but when I shut it of and try to restart it will do nothing , then after a minute of trying it will start right up . It has good water flow and is not getting hot .I did notice that the rectifier for the charging system is getting pretty hot to the touch , could this have something to do with it or could it be the ignition switch ? Any help would be great hate to pay $100.00/hour at the Marina to solve a problem.
