My 1970 Bearcat 55 is using 2 Quarts of fuel an hour.
It seems to be better than my daughters Mariner 45. About a gallon an hour. plus 16 oz. of oil per 6 gal.of fuel.
I love it. Both motors are on comparible pontoons. B)

Isn't it great? ;) I like to take people fishing with me that have never seen or heard of these and show them how slow they will troll and do it for hrs. While fishing I'll tell my son to slide open the door under the splash-well and look at the level of the fuel tank. I'll do this several times in the hrs of trolling and they are simply amazed that an engine of that size hardly uses any fuel. It's fun to see the look on their face.

I got into a discussion on the AOMCI a while back and they were like
"why would anyone want one of these?" They couldn't understand the fascination with this "heavy pig" of an outboard. Most have never ran one and have heard from someone at sometime having nothing but problems with these. Everything made has it's lemons. I'm amazed how many of these engines are still out there and the people who had them years ago would like to have another one. I've heard way more stories of praise than problems.

My Homelite has been running great. During the spell I had with the cooling problem, my wife suggested buying a "new" engine. No way! This "heavy pig" is just fine!!!!!!

I started using my homelite just a few weeks ago and the economy of this engine amazes me. After one day of boating I could barely feel a difference in weight on my fuel tank. I also find it a very quiet engine!

These motors do quite well even though they weigh 100lbs more than a comparible 2 cycle. I love them! B)
