Seems everything I've read on these says hard valve seats in '66. Should have the "A" cast into the block. I have one (serial number shows it to be a '66)a late block design with the four mount lugs on the cam tower, no oil fill on the block as it's on the crankcase but has no "A" cast into the block. I haven't removed a valve to check for seat inserts. I'm wondering if the mount modification preceded the the seat inserts and this is a transition block?
Any thoughts?

yes, new mounts preceded valve seat inserts.
