Good for you!

I am going to look at one with a jet pump on it stored indoors most of its life.

Yes Bill,
That's the the one I told you about. Supposedly was was running when taken off the boat (Shell Lake). The guy I'm getting it from said the boat and motor was garage kept with little use. Paint looks good too. The guy I got the tip from said it looked good to him too. It is a long shaft. The it is the original motor when the guy bought the boat back in the 60s.
I got a deposit on it and hope to pick it up next week. I'll keep you posted after I get it. B)

That jet powered one sounds interestiong.

Gil,
I was trying to get my daughter to pick it up. She works about 10mi from there. But due to a change in her job duties she can't do it. So I will have to dig into my pockets and make the 350 mile round trip to pick it up myself. My truck does get 20 mpg.
I talked to the guy that has it and it sounded by his discription it should be a good one. But won't know for sure until I see it myself.
Going to make the journey next week if all goes well. :cheer:
Will post on here when I get it.

Nice Score!!
Pretty neat how they set up the jet drive for forward and reverse.
What you going to put it on? A river boat?

I hope to pick up my Bearcat next Thurs. It is close to were my daughter works.
Can't wait. She works for a big wholesale distribitor of marine products for marine dealers. Owned by Brunswick. :woohoo:
Dad will be like a kid in a candy store.

I have a couple boats in mind for the
Bearcat. If it is a runner. 62 Lone Star Fleetwood or an Aero Craft 85 trihull. It now has a 68 Merc 650 on it. Turns over but don't know if it will run. The Lone Star is presently powered by a 62 Merc 700 FGS with ignition trouble. A lot of options.
I know where a Merc 115 is waiting for me too. Too many motor leads not enough money.

Bill, you've settled my curiosity about this. So what brand of pump is that?

Outboard Specialties.
Motor came from Idaho, was on a Wacanda. Those are nice boats, they were made in Colville and then Yakima for a time.

Bill,
Do you plan on trying it out with the jet? It would be interesting to hear what you think of it.

DIck,
Guy called me I hadn't heard from for a long time, he's got a new jet unit new on the shelf. When it rains it pours.
Oh, and I'm just getting ready to ship an 85 here. Yes it runs.
How's Paul doing with my big Stack?

Funny how when it rains it pours! And a new one at that.

Cool on the 85hp, blue or a white leg? Don't they all run ;) I was happy with mine the last time out, just have the stumble to deal with off idle.

The stack still had problems I had him bring it to me directly from the river, he had water in the gas. I drained two of the three carbs and found water. I told him to drain all the tanks and dry them which he has done and then I picked up a Raycore filter for him. It has not been in the water since but it obvious this is the problem. I'm curious now how it will run. I think he wasted that last $150 at the repair shop.

Thurs. is the big day. Going to pick up the Bearcat. Site unseen. Going by the guy at the boat shop. Plus a hot tip from Gil.
I'll post more info afer I pick it up. I have a deposit on it. So if it is junk (which I doubt) I wont't get it and get my money back. I'll be the judge. I hope I know what I'm doing.
I forgot to ask if the fuel tank comes with it. I hope it does.
It does come with all controls and cables.
I will bring the camera to get some photos. :woohoo:

Now a proud owner of a Bearcat 55. Serial #F 9241. Must mean it is an F style model It is a long shaft. It looks very clean.
Not much wear and tear.
Still in the truck I'll have to check it out more to see how it is.
Seems a lot tighter than my 62 Homelite. I checked the oil. Clean as a whistle. The fuel sediment bowl is spotless. Also the fuel lines look great and so does the ignition wires.
I'm thinking this motor was well taken care of. $150.00 with controls. Also they look good too! I didn't get a fuel tank. The boat it was on had a built in tank. Just my luck. Don't know the prop pitch, have to take it off and check the number. It is in great shape hardly any paint off it. Didn't look like he went prospecting with it'

Hey Bill R. What year is this one 72? :woohoo: [img]http://www.fiberglassics.com/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/Bearcat_photos_002 [img]http://www.fiberglassics.com/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/Bearcat_photos_003.JPG

I hope it does. The boat dealer sold the owner of this motor an Evinrude E-Tech for his Shell Drake boat. I think it is a 72 model.
The P.O. said it runs. The boat dealer said the owner of the boat was very fussy with his stuff. And told the dealer to be very carefull not to scratch up his boat while installing his new motor.
It cost me $75.00 for fuel to go get this motor plus I had to pay sales tax, $9.00 for a total of $234.00 initial cost.

I will check it out and keep all posted.

All I could find on the I.D. plate a number of F 9241.
Does anyone know what year this motor is?
