TOPIC: Found 3 Homelite /Bearcat Motors in Mi.

Found a guy that has 3 Homelite/Bearcat motors that need repair or used for parts. 2 stuck and one turns. He said the lower units are good on all 3. I haven't seen them, just talked to him on the phone.
He also has many Johnny/Rude (mid 50s thru 60s) motors for parts or restoration. Some Mercs too. Also many old fiberglassics 14'-19'.
He's stripping them and sending them to a land fill $60/ton
He is trying to down size his inventory. Used to work on them. He is in his 70s. He still repairs and sells stuff.
He wants $400.00 for the Homelites. I backed off. A little too high for me What do you Think? He is a member of AOMCI.

He is about 130 mi from me. Not too bad of a trip if the weather is good. Maybe I'll try to get there later this year when the weather breaks a little.

He sounded like he had a lot of old Glassics. In what shape they are I don't know. Set up a meeting with him. He's been in the marine business for many years.

I'm going to try to make it over there Saturday if possible. I'll take my digital camera and try and get an inventory of what he has.

The wife works Saturdays, that's when I do covert ops. My last boat she had no idea about until she saw it roll past the kitchen window. That was last January, I'm due for another.

I've done stuff like that too. Last Feb I bought a boat motor trailer for $200.00 I bought it for the 68 Merc 650.
She didn't know about it until the guy called my house and asked if I made it home safe. Well that was thoughtful But.

If he's got a good shortshaft lower, I'm very interested! I NEED one for my G3!

If Bwanna Don gets over there and checks them out go for it. I really don't need one but thought it would be nice to have one.

Been busy and the weather has been poopy here.

I talked to Jerry, he has about 40 boats on his property! There's 4 feet of snow on and around those boats right now. I'm going to wait until March before I go up there. We've got a bunch of snow over the last couple weeks. Then a week of below zero. When the weather breaks if I don't have something by then I'll go up there and snoop around.

Your best bet is to call him and see what he has.

Glad you got a hold of him. Ya, right now is not a good time for hunting boats in that area. I'm sure they are not going anywhere soon.
