TOPIC: James River cruise, Richmond, VA

April 28 at the Osborne Turnpike Boat Landing. Next door to the Kingsland Reach Marina. This will be a day cruise on this section of the James River. West of the put in point is Fort Darling. This fortification is visable from the river. Rockett's Landing where the Confederate ships where built is visable but nothing is there anymore. East of the put in point is the "Citie of Henricus". This is the 2nd pernment English settlement in the Colony. They will have a demonstration of the English victory over the Virginia Colonial Navy on the bluff above the water that day. Also in boating range is "Deep Bottom". This is where Grant's army built a pontoon bridge across the James to support Union Forts Brady and Harrison during the seige of Richmond.
