TOPIC: Glasspar or Larson?

Glasspar or Larson? 8 years 11 months ago #117737

I have acquired a boat that says Glasspar on the side, Larson as the hull ID, and 1957 Glasspar on the registration with no matching numbers. It is a tri hull, kind of Texas Longhorn orange, and has a 1972 85 HP Evinrude.

Too dark for pix now, but before I go to Fish and Game,,,,

Thanks for input.I researched some and it seems Larson acquired Glasspar or vice versa, ?

Thanks, Paul Malcat

Hi Paul, the Glasspar section in the library has lots of great info.

www.fiberglassics.com/library/Glasspar

According to the information listed Larson bought Glasspars assets in 1966. I had a 1969 Glasspar Cutlass trihull, but don't recall ever finding any Larson tags or badges. If it is a 1957, that would predate Larson, and I don't think Glasspar produced a trihull until 1966(?), others will probably be able to chime in with more info. They did however produce a really interesting series of hulls in the 1950s that have an unusual flat keel, which is sort of trihull-esque. If you can post pictures there are probably folks on here who can give you more information. Enjoy the new acquisition!

Cheers

Yes, I read up some and sent an e-mail to Larson, but I think you are right, most apt to be a 1972. I say that mostly because of the 1972 85 HP Evinrude on it, which is why I wanted it, but it;s not in terrible shape, just the sun eaten seats which is standard issue in the valley of the sun. I'll try to upload pix this AM.

Thanks for the help, Fresh.

If you wake up in the morning with boats on your mind, you are in the right place.

the little aluminum hull ID tag has Larson , Little Falls , Minnesota

#720114

If I were a betting man , I'd say January 14, 1972 might be the manufacture date.

If I were a little smarter I'd post the pix I took, but I'll have to get my I.T. man I guess.

Anyway, It'll all be good.

Thanks,
ph
