TOPIC: Cherokee Commander Early 60s?

Cherokee Commander Early 60s? 10 years 3 months ago #99175

Gramps got this boat in the early 70s. Been parked in his lot since the 90s. He asked me to haul it off to scrap but I hate to see something "vintage" be destroyed. Looking to identify this boat more precisely and hopefully find someone interested in buying the whole thing. ****Not expecting too much $$ for it at all. Otherwise I will be pulling off the vintage gauges, controls, horns, lights, cleets, windshield, etc and posting them on ebay. I appreciate any help, Thanks!!

Lets start w/ where is this Commander?
Is it still in KY? ;)

The Glassics library is thin but a Commander was offered in 1967-8:

Do the dimensions of yours match those ^^^
Cherokee
It's a nice looking vintage tinny.... Best of luck

I know a few tin heads and I'll pass this thread along...

Thanks for spreading the word and the info. It's in Louisville KY. My uncle thinks the boat is a 21 footer, I could measure it to be sure.

Aluminum hull is in good shape. The wood floor boards, vinyl, etc is very rotted. All the cabin pieces such as: seats, table, and windows are there and intact. I'll take some pictures of the interior and backside tomorrow. Like I said before this boat has been sitting for 25 years so it needs plenty of restoration.

Never got around to posting more pictures or an ad. Out of the weeds now and going to the scrap yard this week...unless I can find any takers. I'm thinking around $150-$100. Hull is in great shape. Would be a fun project.

All you need to store it is a spot in the yard. Spent the last 25 years outside, what's a couple more going to hurt haha.

I have 6 tin boats now, and 1 I've paid for waiting to be picked up in Salt Lake City. Plus 2 fiberglass boats............ AND virtually NO yard at all, so they are scattered elsewhere.

So, yeah, not headed this way, I wouldn't mind adding a 21ft cuddy to the 'fleet' but not right now....

Carter,
Have sent a bunch of emails. I'll take it if you still have it.
