Due to a lot of various bolt and screw holes and resulting corrosion on my Transome on the Orlando Clipper, I am putting in new aluminum. I am leavin 1 1/2" of the old aluminum at the sides and bottem. I have cleaned it good with a SS wire brush but should I wash it with something or coat it before reviting in the new aluminum? When this is finished I am laminating new wood for the transome. 3 pices of plywood ( no void exterior ) with a layer of glass cloth and West system epoxy between each layer of plywood. When finished it will all be sealed with epoxy ( no cloth ) I have done a few small ones this way and found it to be very strong.
My concern is to avoid any corrosion between the old and new aluminum. And Yes, I am hand bucking the 236 revits but I am not new to this part. Any help is apperciated.
