TOPIC: Meyers boat

My humble contribution to the aluminum boat section is my 13 foot Meyers open aluminum fishing boat. I've had it since about 1991 ,and my kids and I have used it out on the creek with a 3 hp. Evinrude, and with a 5 hp. Evinrude. I now have a 1957 7.5 hp. Evinrude to try on the boat. Maybe I'll actually get up on a plane this time ! ( I'm no lightweight !) The Meyers seems to be a good quality boat, and has nice styling, with sweeping compound curves the whole length, and a barrel back stern . The boat was well used when I bought it, and I'm amazed that there are only one or two minor rivet leaks. I've replaced the plywood transom motor mount section once. Despite having larger boats over the years, there's something enjoyable about returning to a small open boat once in a while. Perhaps it's a "roots" thing...returning to a boat similar to my first one. ( My first boat was a wooden, flat bottom, open boat, 14 feet long, and probably made in somebody's garage. But with that old 10 hp. Mercury Hurricane, it flew!)

Pictures ...hmmm...that reminds me. There's about 20 inches of snow on the boat ( stored upside down) at the moment. I hope that hull is strong. And yes, I really should learn how to post photos.
I've done so only once before , on the older forums.
Update- the snow covering has now increased to 30 inches. What a winter !

alumaglass- Thanks for the photos of the other Meyers aluminum boats. The one with the fins is rather unusual looking, I must say. I live close to Middletown , in New Castle County. Of course, in Delaware, we're never that far from anyone else !

seeing that boat in your yard made me think. i found a part to your mercury motor the other day when i was cleaning out my wife's car...it is the rod that holds the motor up..i will mail it to you soon....
