TOPIC: What kind of boat is this?

What kind of boat is this? 9 years 1 week ago #117832

I bought this 14 ft aluminum boat cause it's so nifty. I find no Hull # or any such branding, etc. It had a basket case 30 Johnson electric start which I believe without looking again is a 1956. The last year for 6 volt starters I think I found.
But, this has a key hole in the center cockpit and now a single cable steering hub, but I know the rocket on the bow must be known to many.
Thanks for help.

Lone Star used that spear/rocket looking bow cleat, unless it was added by a previous owner.

I could believe that. I had a Lone Star 14', but it was open, no deck, and probably newer..

This one seems pretty straight , might even hold water.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the info. Nice group of pix , VinTinMan, now I kinda know where to with it.
Definetly a keeper. Pretty straight skin, too. I won't stick this on CL. And the 30HP checks out as a 1956, so all I need to do is strip, paint, reassemble a motor, and buy a 6 volt baterrie.
Thanks again,

Thanks again all for the input. I find no ID # anywhere, but heard a rumor they were on the transom "knee" braces, which I only have one of, but details,,,,

I think Lonestar #'s are stamped on the back outside of the transom. Alumacraft #'s are stamped in the transom brace.

VinTinFan,

Fyi, a LOT of the early Lone Star "tin boats" had NO numbers anywhere.

Yes, I found no numbers, except it had Oklahoma registration on it. I got it from an airman from OK who had moved to AZ. He had had it quite a while and had a ton of information which he lost moving from Alaska , etc.
Somewhere I read some manufacturer put the # on the transom brace/gussett, and since I only have one, I said that would be about right, it's on the other one.

But it is a neat little boat. Only real ding is below the WL at the bow, seems like all alum boats have that. Otherwise pretty straight.

Thanks again for all the data and help.
