TOPIC: Found these out in a field ?????

Found these out in a field ????? 9 years 5 months ago #110561

I don't get on fiberglassics too often, but when I do it is usually something I found that your subscribers might enjoy, know something about, or even interested in acquiring it.
That said, I was out in the country today (near Oklahoma City) and came across these two aluminum boats. I have no clue of who they were built by and when they were built. I bet someone here probably can enlighten me. Thanks

J,
First one is a late 50's Lone Star Cruiseliner. Looks like the one on Tom's Cheep Old Boats site.

JCOLLINS,

I think that it's a late 1958 OR !959 model DuraCraft.

The Cruiseliner is a 57 or earlier with the tail fins, bow hatch, and no portholes.

That aluminum battleship is a 57 circa Sports Kraft:

Thanks for the info. Is that Sports Kraft worth restoring? It seems to be all intact and in pretty good shape.
That first boat is just too big and the Dura Craft isn't much different then our '58 Herters.
That Sports Kraft sure would be an eye catcher. I have no experience with aluminum boats but that one I like.

Interesting find !! looks like a 57 or so Continental Cruiser. Does it have the extended transom or bracket like the one in this ad pic ?

I found some pics of Ads for the DuraCraft "Duraflite" models from 1957 and 68. They look similar to me. It looks like the pink and white one that Bob B. had, was listed as a 57.

Yes it has the extended transom. I'm going back to look at it this evening and I'll try to get some more pictures. Thanks.

Yes they look pretty much the same. Is Dura Craft still in business?

Yes, actually back in business. Still in Ward family. Company history in "Classic Library" here on FGlassics. Selling fishing-hunting boats.

I finally got back out to get a picture of that extended transom. Here it is. I haven't gotten ahold of the owner to see if it is for sale. The guy who lives in the house there said that the owner at one time planned on trying to put 2 Sea Doo engines with pump drives in it.
