I saw these on another boat forum, and have become fascinated w/ them:

Those auction site pix (sold a year ago), the boat pix I posted & the boat I saw them on are the ONLY 3 references I can find for them online.

I have a wanted ad posted in the Glassified, but after 24hrs & only 2 hits, I thought I'd ask if anybody else has ever even seen them. I'd like to find 2 sets, but a single hinge would be sufficient to possibly have a seat fabricated.

Thanks for taking a look,

The seat reversing brackets were made in St. Paul MN and the company has been gone for many years.
Herters bought the brackets and used them to make a full width back seat that was optional on the 1958-61 Standard Flying Fish and mark III models.
I had one on the Mark III I recently sold. If you see four holes drilled in the far ends of the fiberglass rear bench seat in a Herters, chances are it had the optional reversing seat.
It is extremely rare to see a Herters now days with the seat still intact.
I believe Herters also sold the brackets separately in their catalog for boaters who wanted to install a reversible seat in their own boat.
Herters is the only boat that I know of that had the reversible seat installed at the factory, but I am sure there are others.
I have attached a poor quality pic of the reversible seat in our Mark III.
I have been looking for years for a set of these brackets with no luck.
I think your best bet would be finding an old Herters in the weeds with the brackets intact, or get lucky at a swap meet.
Good Luck with your search.
Don

You are probably correct about the finger biting.

Thanks those shelf brackets are close, but aren't double jointed to allow forward or reverse seating and being stowed flat. But it's a start...
