Hello. My name is Don and this is my first post here. I restored a 16' fiberglass Starcraft and am trying to find out the year and model. The title says it is a 1963, but I am not sure if it is correct. I checked the Starcraft brochures on this sight and the closest model is the 1961 Voyager. I will attempt to post a picture and if anyone knows the model/year, please let me know.

Thanks, Don

take the " / " out of the first [img/] and the picture should post.
Sorry I don't know what model your boat is.. It's definitely older than the '67 I had.

Pete, here is a picture from the back that shows the transom (modified) and the dash. I glassed in the new transom and raised the height from 15" (original) to 20" to accomodate the motor I had(40 hp Evinrude). The transom does have a small splashwell. I glassed in a new floor and painted the boat inside and out with Interlux VC Underwater Epoxy. It looks really good and is a joy to run. It planes out almost instantly and will run about 30 mph WOT. I pulled my son behind it on skis this past weekend. I ended up using several yards of fiberglass cloth and over 4 gallons of polyester resin. It is a solid boat. Any info much appreciated. I have several more pics if needed to identify. I added a close up of the dash. The speedo came out of an old Glaspar. I have a tach and water pressure gauge temporarily mounted. The steering is obviously not original. I still have alot of finishing touches I want to do.

Thanks, Don

Pete, I checked the library and the closest boat is the 1961 Voyager. It looks like most of the 1963 fiberglass hulls were lapstrake. The title says it is a 1963, but who knows. I would like to know the model for sure. My brother is a machinist and he can cut out some aluminum nameplates on his waterjet.

By the way, that is an awesome looking DelRay you have.

Did you restore it yourself?

Don, waterjet eh?
Can he cut from a supplied vector-graphic? Any particular format?
I'd like a pair of Fabuglas Scripts cut in aluminum or thin stainless.

Could your boat be a '63 Scout?

According to the Glassic Library, the 1963 scout was offered in 14' only. This boat measures 16' and has a splashwell that the Scout does not have. I'm sure my brother can cut some emblems for you as long as he has something he can scan. Can you email me a picture of what you need?

As far as my boat goes, I am almost positive it is a 1961 Voyager. I have never seen another one like it. Unfortunately, alot of people trashed these old boats due to soft floors and rotten transoms. They are really not that hard to restore. I know a guy that had an old fiberglass boat (single layer roving) and torched it in his back yard to avoid paying the landfill fee. The fiberglass hulls actually burn pretty fast once ignited. :(

The DelRay is original except for the seats, bilge pump, engine, and stereo. Thanks for the comment. I have the original seats but they are starting to come apart at the corner bead. I have been trying to find more information on yours.
