Very cool! Even with all the stuff you have going on, to take on a tedious job like that, you are the man John! Just prepping (sanding all those nooks and crannies) that for paint would drive me to drink again. LOL Bless you brother. ;)

Should be stunning once completed. A lot of detail on that one. Here is one I did for a client some years back for a stage production of "Babes in Toyland". She had several restored & one unrestored original carousel horses and had pick this one up that needed major repairs. The client specified the base color of black but gave me full rein on all other colors. My instructions were it had to be vivid. It was a last minute decision to include it in the play and I had a whole 4days to attach one hoof, most of the tail,
fill, sand some major cracks and paint. I offered to do a proper restoration after the play ended but she wouldn't hear of it.It is still on display at her home with all the others and her favs.

holy crap, its been a month and a week since i started this thread, but yesterday i finaly got to work on the horse, wow what a ton of sanding and resculpting, especially the seams.
this plastic is like milk jug plastic, and is very unforgiving and hard to sand.
there are so many imperfections in it,its going to take awhile.
i have 2 days in it ,every slight sanding mark just shows, even with 400 grit, but i think i found the secret to taking them out,i am using a very small butane torch and it takes the plastic "fuzz" off.
in the 1st pic you can see that they didnt use much primer, and man the seams were bad,and i paid extra to have it done by the company.
oh well,here goes nothing,lol.john

I'd pay money to watch you ride that when it's done. John I just know we won't see any seams when your done.

John,
You are a true artist and I can't wait to see it completed. As Robert said I'm sure there won't be any seems anywhere. The torch is a great idea, I'll have to remember that one when working with plastic.

thanks guys,i appreciate the confidence in me,lol.
well for the last 2 days i have been taking off the primer that was put on it,and i built a quick stand for it ,so its easier to work on and paint.
i used 1 1/2 inch water pipe, with a coupler,so i can work on it low,or add another piece to work high, the horse takes a 1 1/4 inch pole,so i just used that size pipe put down in the bigger 1 1/2 inch pipe, now i can work at any height and spin it any way i need.
i had to use a toothbrush and reducer,(not my tooth brush, lol)im now waiting for some filler in the seams to dry, then i will wipe the whole thing down with alcohol then let dry then primer.
hopefully i get to work on one of the boats next.but i think i need to clean up my garage 1st,lol,loljohn

my wife also has a couple of wall decorations for me to paint.
then this weekend i have to get soffit and facia up on the new porch/room,so i can get my gutters back up,i just wish ihad and aluminum bending brake.
thanks bob,im thinking of ya,and i will keep in touch about your surgery, john

i went to arbor frieght today and got a great airbrugh(dual control) for 20 bucks,it works just as good as my 200 dollar badger.
next comes all of the colors, john
1st i painted it all white next was the greays, for the dappeling, and shadows
next was the blacks

there are 6 pics, starting with all the masking i had to do,i painted it with rattle cans, and an airbrush,i still have alot of touchup to do,like add black and white to subtle spots.pic 1 masked off. next pic purple trim paint,my wifes favorite color next the purple is masked and the gold goes on then the teal i have for one of my boats ,i used the airbrush here. finally unmasked, just some touchup to do with the airbrush,i had a bad spot, and i also want to work some more on the flower detail,i cant believe i just said that, lol.
