TAVARES SYMPOSIUM – 2017

Location: Sunnyland Boat Show, Tavares, Florida.
To be held in the Tavares City Hall just a block away from the Boat Show Grounds. There will be signs.
9:30-11:00: Early Classic Fiberglass Boats.
Speaker: Bill Anderson
A continuation of last year’s talk by noted collector, Bill Anderson. He will cover: What is collectible in early fiberglass boats; how do you turn a fiberglass Hulk into a show winner. Bill has many examples he will show as well as sharing some of his secrets on how he does it.
11:00-12:00: Some of the historical events of the early gold cup Racing.
Speaker: Charles Mistele
Gar Wood: His great influence and many contributions towards this early colorful racing era. Charles Mistele is a very notable expert on this subject as well as the owner of Gar Woods: Miss America IX.
12:00-1:00: Post War Hydro Racing.
Speaker: Larry Lauterbach
The Lauterbach Hydro’s and their outstanding place in Hydroplane racing.
1:00-2:30: Marine Electrical Systems and Wiring including ignition systems.
Speaker: Dave Van Ness of Van Ness Engineering
Many times our engine problems are directly or indirectly related to malfunctioning, electrical issues, such as not starting, mis-firing etc. Should we keep the distributor or replace it with a modern electrical ignition?
2:30-3:30: Transmissions
Speaker: Dave Van Ness of Van Ness Engineering
Dave will take you through the anatomy of a Peradyne transmission and then demonstrate how to adjust it.
Time will be allocated for questions, answers, and further discussions.
There is no additional charge for the symposium, just your boat show ticket.
