The Door County Maritime Museum’s 27th Annual Classic and Wooden Boat Festival will take place on August 12 and 13, 2017 in downtown Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin capping off the city’s Maritime Week celebration.
The annual event offers a pre-event for registered boaters on Friday August 11th- the 10 mile “Bay to Lake Lighthouse Cruise” featuring lunch at the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club and a reception in the museum at day’s end. Saturday brings boats on display, an adjacent street festival- “Maritime on Madison”, kids’ activities, an evening of fireworks, and the best freshly-caught whitefish sandwiches in Wisconsin. The festival also includes an entertaining Sikaflex Challenge boatbuilding contest and race. The two-person teams build their boats on Saturday and race on Sunday. Some even finish the course.
