Al, I'm in Marinette a few times a month, the place is starting to boom. Hard to see the boats from the bridge.

CAT*FIN*k, what's the story behind the woodie pic? Far an away my favorite so far. Is that a photo or a painting? Any chance of getting a hi resolution copy of that so i could print and frame it (barring copyright issues)?

I found it on a free wallpaper download site. While lookin' for some tunes once. connectonlivemusic.blogspot.com/2009/10/download-free-nature-wallpaper-for-pc.html I was surprised I could find the link so fast again. I have some more wall papers but need to reduce before I can post.

Oooops better leave a pic

I'll throw my hat in the ring...

1987 Coombs Craft, built by Skeet Coombs for the Mercury Challenge Series. I run it with a 1954 Mercury Mark 20H with the "Toilet Bowl" conversion pack. Runs about 58 mph.

1992 Broccoli C-Stock Runabout, built by Craig Bowman. Powered by a Yamato model 102. Runs about 60 mph.

1974 Starcraft American 15. Purchased as a soggy rotten mess, replaced every stick of wood in it. Powered by a 1980 Johnson Stinger 75.

1976 Starcraft American 18. Purchased as a soggy rotten mess, replaced every stick of wood in it, save for the decorative teak bits. Powered by a 1983 Johnson 90.

\"too soon old,too late smart\" my pap

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didnā€™t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.ā€œ

I am born and raised in Marinette. Parents and a brother still live there. Work for a company in nearby Peshtigo (I live in MN). I am in the area now and then.

Nice rigs Scott!! I ran a Blue Streak runabout in the '60s with a Mark 20H also and it maxed out at about 56 mph.

Popular Mechanics March 1960 pg 144
All-Aluminum Catamaran Uses Crescent-Shaped Hull
Its crescent-shaped hull skimming the water on edges of aluminum, a new catamaran streaks along at speeds up to 50 miles per hour when powered by a 35-horsepower motor and up to 22 miles per hour on a 15-horsepower outboard. The boat is 14 feet long and 8 feet wide and has a cockpit beam of 65 inches. The Hull is made of welded Tubular aluminum covered with high-stress aluminum alloy. It has upholstered bucket seats which contribute to the smooth ride. The experimental catamaran was built by a commercial builder seeking experience in this style construction and, as yet, there is no plan to put the design into commercial production.

Trim Elevators for Boat
Stern elevators available for both inboard and outboard motor boats can be adjusted to give the desired planning attitude by a new control system. When the boat is moving, water pressure against two stainless steel elevators is introduced into twin hydraulic cylinders where it provides power so the boater can adjust the elevators. The system has finger-tip controls.

Look, Fisherman ā€“ No Hands!
Fishermen now can have both hands free for fishing and still control their boats when they are moving at slow speeds. A new tiller control, boxed in cast titanium, responds to foot pressure, allowing the fisherman to adjust direction for current, wind, drift and changing shoreline. Its manufacturer says the control will turn a fishing boat 360 degrees in approximately 20 feet.

Re:Just Awesome Boat Pictures 12 years 1 month ago #56196

Great Pictures!!!! I am a little partial to the Corby's add, since I have worked for a liquor wholesaler for over 35 years. This is the boat my dad built in 1959. It is a U.S. Molded Plywood hull and he built the rest. We grew up on the Mississippi every weekend during the summer in this boat. I had it for about 10 years before rot set in. If I knew then what I know now, I would probably still have it. 20 years ago it became my bar top along with half of the bow hanging on the wall behind it. At this moment, the steering wheel is on the way to "tudor" to be used in one of his projects.
