Advertisements for Shinn-Craft Boats begin to appear in the Los Angeles Times Classifieds around 1958. Born in 1950, Clifford L. Shinn must have begun making boats at the youthful age of 18 (Who's Who in California, p.282, 1973). Not much is known about his firm, Shinn-Craft Boats, Inc. except that he made some 14' or 15' fiberglass runabouts, one dealer of which was Cliff's Boat Sales of 2801 E. Pacific Coast Hwy, Long Beach California (Jun 7, 1959 Los Angeles Times). Eventually Clifford L. Shinn also served as president of the following firms: Shinn Industries, Inc., Classic Boat Corp., dill's Boat Sales, Inc., Ebbtide Apt., Inc., Brittany Investment, Inc. and on the board of directors of Spar Mfg., Inc. (Who's Who in California, p.282, 1973).
