Drury L. McCraw designed the hulls for this company's models. He was a "boat architect and designer" and also was in charge of production at the company's Sarasota plant. Sarasota Marine Industries started as the Fenne Boat Co., which was bought and renamed by Gordon LeSage and Carroll Shaffer in Fall 1957. LeSage and Shaffer were both former Sears, Roebuck & Co. executives before getting into the boat business (see 1958 article below).
