Chris Craft Kit Boats
Chris Craft Corporation
Pompano Beach, Florida
Chris Craft offered a line of kit boats that were cost-effective options for the prospective boater. This began with two models offered for 1951, a the Model 14 Outboard Boat and 8' pram. These were pictured in the same advertisements as Chris Craft's outboard motors. By 1952, kit boat production merited the creation of a new Kit Boats division within Chris Craft. This division lasted until Chris Craft's Chris Craft Cavalier division success in marketing higher value, finished plywood boats relegated the Kit Boat division to a cost-cutting competitor for consumer business.
