Clayton Skiffs

Clayton Marine Industries, Inc.

Fischer Boulevard

Toms River, New Jersey

Clayton Skiffs, Inc. was one of many boat manufacturers located on the New Jersey coast. They were purchased in March 1959 by the Bran-Del Corporation, a subsidiary of Lukens Steel Co. (July-October 1960 Popular Boating). In the period after WWII, Lloyd R. Clayton and his brother Hugh started the Clayton Yacht Works marina and co-owned Clayton Skiffs, Inc. He started in the boating industry by working in the Annapolis Yacht Yard during WWII. Lloyd left the business after the sale to Bran-Del Corp. (Toms River Regioinal Schools Hall of Fame)
