Allen Quimby started the Bristol Boat Division in 1951 (Oct 5, 1958 Daily Boston Globe). Robert Weatherill Winchell was the sales manager and company vice-president who assisted with the expansion (Obituary, May 18, 2006 Hartford Courant).
