Definitely from a v6 Merc, but I'm not sure what HP.
Whatever it is, it had "clam-shell" cowls, not drop-over, so it probably is from an early one.
1976 thru 1989???
I'm a far cry from a v6 guru.

I have never pulled the plastic carb cover off of my 1987 200 Merc V6...maybe that is what it looks like under there. As you say, mine is a clam shell. I did however do a bit of cheating sort of... I drilled tiny holes in each of those same 6 locations based on a tip from a Merc Mechanic that is the same size as the fogging tube nozzle on the merc fog spray. It makes it easy to fog for winter storage...so that picture would help explain that (push the nozzle in up to the face of the can practically.) I have always been pleased with its performance and narrow and light motor. Now that it is 30 years old, young people cannot believe it looks so small. Actually it almost does look physically small on a 20' boat ...and especially next to an Optimax or four stroke.
