Picked up this 1963 PowerCat Sunday. Came with 5 motors and 8 sets of vintage water skies. Been setting in a barn since 1972. Best of all it was only 4 miles from the house. Plus i did work for the PO 20 years ago , and he lives mile from me. They bought it new in 63. It sure is a small world!!

Cool Boat and great story! I see lots of fun ahead for you. I passed on this model at a church fund raiser over a decade ago...I just could not see far enough into the future. Best of luck with whatever you do with the boat and mini motor collection.

That boat does not fit in your collection well, you should give it to me and I will give you a dorsett catalina that would look better in to your driveway.

Shake is right. Neighbors probably think your dirt poor, rusty trailer, old boat etc. You should really think about passing that on to someone who lives in a more isolated area in Wisconsin where rust is a common thing.

That cat was ahead of its time. Such a cool looking boat for sure.

Mr Cal, thanks for the offer, but I do like keeping my neighbors blood pressure on the high side. Not sure if you would be interested or not but i know where there is an old Skimaster and a Glass Craft sitting. Both have fins. I don't have room for them . Thanks for all the response,it is pretty cool. Now that it quit raining and warmed up I started cleaning and getting ready to start the " project" , so trying to find the I-d tag and crawling ,bending and looking in every nock and cranky, and not looking in the ovisous place ,a good hour later. I happened to glance at the back of the splash well. In plane sight there it was. I now know it's a 1962 14 t . Now the fun begins !!!

It will be interesting to see what your thoughts are regarding 14' monohulls after running that 14T.
I have one, and compared to some other flat bottomed glassics I've owned, it's hard to ride in "half a cat" after riding in "a cat and a half" or a cat. That was Buddy Ebsen's description of monohull vs trimaran.
The stability at rest is noteworthy. On the bigger powercats it's like driving a couch across the water.
Plus, for beaching they sit dead flat on the beach.

Multi hulls are awesome. I should know, I sail a Hobie Cat 16. Lol.

I love that stepped hull. Designers were thinking speed ...had to break that surface grip. My Dad had a 15' flat bottom Mono-Step hull called a Talv. The steering was in the back of the twin cockpit to help with that speed. It was around 1060/61 ish with small vertical fins. With a 75 Rude, he said it would run 50. I have movies of it...hard as heck to turn at speed...slide and bounce. Very interesting boat and I have not seen one in the library. Sure wish I still had that one. I am happy with my Powercat. Yours step cat is an amazing classic!!

You should have no problem with finding someone who appreciates your nice boat. Bought my cat from a large man who had it 50 years since new as it was getting challenging to get in. My day will come too. Trying to enjoy while I can.

Match made in Heaven! Nice find under the dirt. Wish my cat had the same trailer. Did boat dealers far away from manufacturers just work out trailer deals from different regional trailer manufacturers? ...or did the boat manufacturers work out deals in regions where their bots were sold? Always wondered how many different ways that worked. What would be the best way to preserve stickers like that from further deterioration?

Mark,
Duplicates of the sticker like that can be reproduced at places like FastSigns or places that do truck lettering. I believe they scan the original, digitally fix it up and then can print them out on the sticky stuff. Not really pricey either. I've already had them do those teeny-tiny letters and words for shift levers and dash board switches.

Looks like when Power Cat moved to Victoria Tx in 62 they found a local manufacturer to build trailers for them. As far as preserving the sticker , not sure . When I redo the trailer mite work around it and leave it alone??

I was thinking that too when I saw Victoria, Texas. That sticker is so cool with twin cat heads! Mine is a simple "Trailcar" trailer brand out of Illinois and it looks like someone just masked off around the sticker and then hand painted to freshen up the trailer...in its yellow paint with red steel rims (missing the baby moons)...seems I see lots of that yellow trailer and red rim combo from "back in the day". Wonder how that seemed to be a color combo theme on so many trailers from back when.
I just think twin cat heads (and twin hulls or even twin motors) just makes your package that much cooler!
