We will be up Saturday to say hi to everyone, but without a boat. Just had knee surgery, so still on crutches. The water is really high in our area, so hope it's good on Kosh for everyone's boating. Be safe!

First, do no harm!
It's a lot easier to buy a boat than sell a boat.(Stole this from a member!)
All that work and hardware store mailbox letters for the hull? Tsk tsk..

Latest forecast for Edgerton is a little ugly for Saturday. I've got a 5 hour drive to get there, but if it's raining all day,
may have to pass. Let's hope the weather man has it wrong. Have been looking forward to it.

Is there an alternate rain date or do we just show boats in parking lot if too rainy and river flowing high and fast?

I just talked to Jim,, he thinks it is hard to call but the river is up not flooding,It is calling for 50 to 60 percent,,but if we could have the 40 to 50 percent from 10 til 4 would be good,,an alternate plan is park in lot and shoot the wind,, take over a room in bar,He mentioned sunday but that wouldn't work I don't think,,Lets just see how close they can call it,last I saw was showers sat but scattered fri,,who knows???I let you know what I know Bill

I think Cal is on to something. I use waow.com and then go to their radar. I then click on "future" and the slide bar will let you advance the radar movement in one hour increments. Always a big help to me for weekends and travel. I only do it like the evening before a trip. You can zoom out and use it for any state. The Anchor Inn IS a great place to be whether it rains or not! So great food, great staff, great atmosphere rain or shine! Be a good meteorologist and be wrong again - come on sunshine ☀️!

Small rain won't stop me, thunder storms will.
Any of you guys bringing something for the swap meet?
I went through some of my stuff and found a full set of rollers for a Tee Nee, three whale tails, three air horns, some port windows, remote spotlight and the 5.5 1957 Evinrude Fisherman that I completely renewed. Will bring them all in case someone is interested.

Hmm. Maybe I should bring some $. Might have to check out a horn or spot light for the Wilson. I would need the Jeep if I wanted the motor. Do you have a good picture of it? We had one, but I can't remember the year. It was stolen in 1970...that was the first motor I operated. Maybe I should bring down a white and black merc control box or so. The boat may not be ready, but lots of reasons to want to go.

Mark, hope you made it through the rough weather last night. I see some tornado's visited close by. Weather reports in my area call for nice weather Friday, heavy rain on Saturday and then nice weather again on Sunday but that's 170 miles north of Kosh.
The 5.5 Evinrude is a 1957. I put in new coils, points, condensers, plugs and plug wires, removed the carb and ran cleaner and pressure through all the passages. New impeller, new O rings in the fuel connector(s). The gas tank is clean inside and is 1/2 full of 25:1 fresh mix and it holds pressure. A few rust spots on the outside for "patina" and it's the heavy steel type. After all that it runs, actually started on the first or second pull. Compression is 95 - 100 in both. Only ran it in a garbage can so I never had a chance to fine tune those pesky idle and high speed jets. The port side badge is missing a section and the starboard side badge is cracked.

Storm came trough but no damage at the house. Sad about all of those tornadoes around the country a couple days ago. Western Wisconsin helicopter shot showed tornado path across a lake and threw some boats up on shore where houses and trees were thrashed. Nasty stuff. Our river is really high. I am still watching weather too. Nice looking motor. Ours had the wedge front maybe early 60's. someone should want that. If it were a 55, it would match our 15hp...then it would be tempting. If you don't sell it, bring it to Tomahawk in August and it should sell.

The word bleak comes to mind right now but looking at live radar it seems like that front is moving quickly. Maybe the storms will pass through before tomorrow but in the direction they are going I'll be driving through them going south. Not good. Was so looking forward to this first meet of the season for me.

Looking at the radar it seems like Bill is getting the brunt right now. If that front is fast it will be out of the area by tomorrow. I might have to pull with a cover on the boat. Anyone have experience doing this? Every time I tried towing covered I get the big balloon. Then I see some others on the highway where the cover seems to suck right down. Any suggestions?

bilnan1 wrote: Straps, straps, straps,,, or put it in trailer,,,Bill

A trailer would be a good idea, saves wear and tear on the keel when it's on a trailer. Putting it in a trailer is out of the $$$$ question for me.
The travel gods are against me this week. Drove over some bad railroad tracks yesterday and developed a bad vibration in the rear end of my Jeep Liberty. Lost a wheel weight, had all four re-balanced on the way home and on the highway today the vibration got worse. Thinking I'll be replacing the rear U joint, still have to check it out. Things are not looking good for tomorrow. UUUUGH!!
UPDATE....Not going. Cold, windy, have to replace a U joint on my tow vehicle. If they could move that date to June...would be nice.

Our weather radar shows rain from about 9:30 til about 4:30pm. I am bummed to miss great host, great friends and amazing boats. If there ends up with an alternate rain date, I would consider it. For those who can make it, I hope the radar is wrong. Stay safe all. ... and good luck with the Jeep Cal. And here I just finished repairing mine from a deer kill so I could have it for this event. Trying to attach 2 damage photos and one repaired. Week later, the motor blew in my wife's car on way to dealer to get recalled airbag replacement. Life trying to get in the way of boating. Now I know why I love boating best!

Mark, I'm bummed also. really looking forward to the first show of the season. Now I have 3 six gallon tanks of mixed gas just waiting to be burned up. Had some tools packed, boxed up some stuff for the swap meet and now I'm up and awake @ 5am. Marinette is next on my list and then Tomahawk and Sturgeon Bay.
Fantastic job on the Jeep. Reminds me of the damage to my old XJ a few years back. $2500. worth of parts to put it all back together, The sheriiff's deputy tagged the deer and gave it to one of his buds. Made a new friend that night. Insurance wanted to total it but being a Jeep guy there was no way. A year later I rolled it down an embankment on a icy I-41 in Menomonee Falls. That was the coup d' gras. Bought the Liberty after that. U joints are easy peasy.

Hi all, Days like this is what makes nice days so special . . . hope to see some of you today, otherwise, Marinette or Sturgeon Bay? I'l don't think I'll drag my Rocket today though. Some great news! My buddy who has been with me on my purchase and pickup, has bought an identical Rocket for himself! Both are 1958, yellow, etc! Can you just see twins out on the water???

Yellow twins would be pretty awesome to see. The restoration information between you 3 "Rocketmen" should be a big help! I am really liking those boats. The back seat is what I really like. Yeah Cal - spot on at &2,500 repair for me too. Expensive deer. That's one decent glassic miner fixer upper I won't get. The blown car motor would fetch me 3 - 4 decent glassics... or fix all I have with food and gas money for a decade. Guess Rocktman is right about nice days (and Glassic boating) they ARE special. Guess I'll drag out th chainsaw before rain hits north. Hope no rain for the event!

Did anyone go? take pictures?
Rain by me most of the day. Cubbies and Brewers were rained out.
My resident mallards hunkered down in the back yard.
Just a lousy day all around.

I was wondering the same thing, I decided not to go after watching the radar all morning. I spent yesterday working out in the rain 3 story's up in the air setting glass, so getting cold and wet didn't seem very appealing. I do hope they have the event next year.

I am bummed because I loved that place. Great location - Anchor Inn was a wonderful host with great food, welcoming owner and staff, docks right there and a no wake zone that keep all boats from taking a beating while moored. Lake to the east for big open water and river run to the west for calm protected water. Just found that venue to offer the best of what a boater my want for day or weekend. Already counting the days for next years event! Kind a good driving location for upper Midwest to pull in from a big circle depending on how far you are willing to drive. I drive 3 hours from the north and get to see people who would otherwise be 6-8 hours from me. Hope to be there in 2018 (unless there is hope for a fall event - hint hint!)

There was nothing but rail all day. The only boat I saw was my pre-restoration Rocket. We had fun at the bar though!

I would really liked to have seen your Rocket. So many things we could have shared. You can start a thread here and everyone will walk with you through a rebuild process.
Hope next year proves different. Maybe a meet scheduled later in the season. Even an early date in fall would work. Springtime is just a little too early.

A Saturday or Sunday would work for me. Right now things are tight for scheduling but maybe sometime in June/July. It would probably be a spur of the moment arrangement but we'll keep in touch.
